Private tutor in New Orleans, LA
Pomona College - BA, Philosophy
Originally from New York, for college, I became a West Coast resident who earned a philosophy degree at Pomona College in California. While pursuing my degree, I took on the role of editor-in-chief of the university's newspaper. I worked my way up the ladder by serving in various editorial capacities. These positions also gave me the opportunity to give other students personalized guidance in polishing their research and writing skills.I exercised my tutoring and teaching skills in other roles as well. I was a tutor of general subjects for middle school students, and I also taught the challenging activity of rock-climbing. Currently, I help students prep for standardized tests. Seeing my students grow and learn is what drives my motivation for teaching. It's very fulfilling to see what students craft on their own, especially in terms of writing. It's also satisfying to see students improve their reading comprehension.Math is another passion of mine. I am definitely interested in helping students work to their full potential in areas like pre-calculus and geometry. When it comes to teaching, my philosophy is that students need to be encouraged. My job as a tutor is to help them grow and build their confidence along the way. I also aim to teach them about how hard work and diligence can bring results. When I'm not in the classroom, I can be found backpacking, playing sports, rock climbing, and playing baseball and football.
